The province covers an area of 11,424 km2. The provincial capital is 520 km. northeast of Bangkok.

Because of geography and climate, the natural landscape is outstanding. Beautiful national parks where nature is preserved and mark the area attract many tourists. Located west of Udon Thani and Nong Khai, Loei is particularly picturesque. Forming a boundary between the North and Northeast, Loei province is a typical region of Isan. It is a mountainous region to climate variability. Indeed, the temperatures are very hot in summer and cooler, even cold in winter. Loei and Nong Khai are bounded on the north by the Mekong River. From a cultural point of view, Loei mixture of influences from North and Northeast. The remoteness of the town has preserved much of the different traditional ways of life.

Chiang Khan

Located on the banks of the Mekong River to 48 km. north of Loei, Chiang Khan is a pleasant small town that derives its charm from its location on the river bank. Among the points of interest, two temples are particularly interesting to visit: Wat Si Khun Muang, with a chapel style characteristic of northern Thailand and murals, and Wat Tha Khaek, an ancient temple on the bank of Mekong three houses Buddha statues in granite. National Park Phu Kradueng

Located about 70 km. south-east of the road Loei Loei-Khon Kaen, Phu Kradueng Park is one of the main attractions of the region. The highlight of the region is 1,325 meters and the park extends around a bell-shaped mountain topped by a large tray. With its pine forest growing in a temperate climate, its green meadows, its wide variety of wild flowers and waterfalls, hikers will find them. Open from October to May, however, the park is closed during the rainy season to preserve the flora and fauna.

Suan Hin Pha Ngam

Located south of Loei, near Highway No. 201 (Loei - Phu Kradueng), 20 km. King Amphoe Nong Hin, this limestone mountain has eroded over time to shape a beautiful landscape. A path winds through the rocks and leads to two waterfalls, Namtok Suan Hom and Namtok Phiang Din.

National Park Phu Ruea

Amounting to over 1365 meters above sea level, the other has a picturesque mountain peak covered with pine forest. Among the other attractions of the park, enjoy the panoramic views, waterfalls, rock gardens, caves, relaxation areas and the vineyards of Chateau de Loei. Phu Ruea is 60 km. west of Loei, along Highway No. 203.

Phrathat Song Rak

Amphoe Dan Sai in on the banks of the river Man, 83 km. Loei, the chedi was built in 1560 to house the sacred relics of Buddha. The chedi is characterized by a Lao-style architecture, and was erected as a token of friendship between Ayutthaya and the Kingdom of Laos in Vientiane.

Nature Reserve Phu Luang

Covering an area of 897 km2, this tray covered with lush vegetation has a cool climate all year round. Some parts of the park are open to visitors who can follow a path of 6 km. through a pine forest, fields, and meadows covered with flowers along a rocky plateau. The best time to go trekking is from October to May Visitors must be accompanied by an official guide.

Wat Pho Chai

Located at Ban Na Phueng, in Amphoe Na Haeo, this temple houses a statue of Phra Ong Chao Saen (also known as the Fon Saen Ha statue) which, according to the beliefs, ensures sufficient levels of rain . The Chapel, 400 year old, well worth a visit, its interior is decorated with frescoes depicting the life of Buddha.

Namtok Tat Huang

Also known as the Thai-Lao Namtok these huge waterfalls are located 10 km. Na Haeo Road - Rom Klao towards Bo Muang Noi. The waterfalls are born in the river Hueang, a tributary of the Mekong, and hide in a dense rainforest.

Phrathat Satch

The Lao-style chedi with a height of 33 meters is located a few miles from the market Tha Li Amphoe Tha Li is also one of the most beautiful sites in Loei.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Fair Dok Fai Ban Wan Mueang Loei Makham

The Fair is held annually at the Hotel Provincial on the occasion of Chinese New Year (usually in January / February) and is accompanied by a colorful parade that celebrates local produce cotton.

The Phi Ta Khon Festival

Celebrated in late June - early July in Amphoe Dan Sai, this festival is one of the most amazing annual events in the region of Isan. Indeed, a ceremony of the merits, a sermon and a parade in honor of Phra Uppakhut, a Buddha statue that has the power to bring rain, take place during the festival. However, currently the most fun of the festival takes place at shows where young people dressed in colorful masks of ghosts, depict a local legend and fun to make jokes.

Fair of New Year Dok Mai Mueang Nao

The Fair runs from December 30 to January 2 in Amphoe Phu Ruea. This event is part of shows majestic stalls also sell decorative plants, flowers and agricultural products.
